One of L.A.’s Most Famous High Schools Has Scored a Weekly Flea Market

L.A. thrifters and vintage aficionados can thank the folks behind The Odd Market for creating some of their favorite indie bazaars around town. Meet Phillip Dane of Odd Market

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phillip Dane. Phillip, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? In 1991, I started the Melrose Flea Market at the Fairfax High School. Now it is the Melrose Trading Post (different owners) and from there I created a number of “Support Local” far before anyone knew what that meant. From Peddler on the Roof at the Sunset Gower Studios Rooftop Parking Lot to Dodger Stadium Flea with 500 vendors and 20,000 attendees to Truckit Fest and now Odd Markets. Currently, my wife and I operate Odd Market shows on The Santa Monica Pier, at The Autry, The Bloc and soon opening in Glendale at Central Park.
