This new market is certain to catch on fast with its spectacular views of the DTLA Skyline and tons of parking. The first one kicks off on Saturday, September 14th with up to 50 Pop-Ups. We will be rockin’ some great music and to be honest “testing the waters” with No Admission and Free Parking. Visit theoddmarket.com/rooftop for more information.
Vendor space is still available and hell, it will be for a long time with a 40,000 square foot roof. We have room for 200 Vendors! Visit theoddmarket.com for details!
I am excited to be launching a YouTube and Web Channel Series titled Meet The Makers. We will be producing a fun and factual series on our many Vendors and Food Trucks in the coming weeks. Each segment will be about 10 minutes in length and have a shotgun series of 20 random questions that our unsuspecting guests are not privy to until the camera rolls.
Mostly aimed at showcasing what the Vendor has to offer, how they got into it and where to get it but also some fun questions and intimate look into their backstories. Where they came from. Their influences and an occasional. “what’s your favorite color” thrown in for good measure.
Vendors & Food Trucks! Want to be featured on Meet The Makers, please email news@theoddmarket for information. We tape once a week in Silver Lake.
You heard right. I’m putting a 200′ Zip Line right down Commonwealth between Franklin and Clarissa. And a Beer and Wine Bar. And Bungee Jumping. And Mini Go-Karts. And 9 hole Mini Golf then add in the best BBQ brought to you by Highland Hickory
14 Food Trucks, Live Performances, Local Crafters and of course the
Internationally Famous Franklin Avenue Pinewood Derby where students go head to head to compete for bragging rights as the fastest derby car on the block and the “Best in Show” too.
This is going to be one hell of a Fall Festival benefiting the Friends of Franklin located at 1910 N. Commonwealth in Los Feliz. Visit us at theoddmarket.com/foffallfest
If you haven’t been yet to our cool little community event called Food Truckin’ Tuesdays then you might want to swing by tomorrow night. Starting at 5 Pm and going until 9 or 10 Pm (depends on how busy we are) we dish up 9 Food Trucks, some local vendors, music, and inflatables for the kids. There’s seating and music too. For a complete lineup, visit our Food Truckin’ Tuesday page.
It’s been about a week or so since we launched the Odd Market Place. We have a handful of great vendors up so far and more are in the works. Check out our Shop today and we’d love to hear from you. Our goal is to make items from the more than 2000 Vendors on our site, accessible whether you come to our events or not. In time, we plan on offering thousands of items for sale, all benefiting local Makers! Each Shop is independently operated by the Vendor. Think of it as our version of Etsy.
Not to brag, but we have a pretty kick-ass site with a ton happening in the background. The Odd Market site is a Membership Site. It’s an Event Booking Site. It’s an Online Shopping Site and it’s all done under one roof. Now, that doesn’t mean that you need all the bells and whistles but with over 2500 Vendors registered with us, I have seen my share of sites and let’s be honest… many are in need of some TLC. Some should have an entire overhaul. Then there are those who don’t even have a site but are relying on Social Media (not a great idea) so what’s the solution?
Many don’t realize that we have our own team of developers who not only build site, tweak sites and fix sites but our team customs codes for other corporations and consumers. I get asked many times throughout the week, “Who built your site?” and I tell then that we do it all in house.
Now the good part. We are offering our services to the public. If you are a Registered Vendor on The Odd Market Site, you could pay as little as $195 to revamp an existing site. If you are not a currently Registered Vendor, rates start at only $245. To keep it simple we have a page dedicated to Web Development and a simple form to reach us. If we can help make your site better represent you, let us show you how reasonable and effortless it can be.
We are officially open for business! Six Shops and counting. Check out (and support) these local shops today. From Rockin’ Rubs to Jewelry and Clothing. We are aggressively working to get many more of our Vendors added over the next few weeks. I’d love to hear what you think of the new Market Place. Come check us out at theoddmarket.com/store
Yes, it is true! We are feeling the warmth of Southern California after the roughest season we’ve had. Tomorrow is Odd Nights at The Autry and we are so pleased to see warm evenings are upon us. Come early and stay late. Listen to some great music, sip on a cocktail from our bar, enjoy food from one or more of the 20 food trucks and shop some amazing local designers and artists. And remember, the Autry will be open exclusively for our guests until 9 PM.
Lately, I have been hearing that people with Gmail tend to not get my emails and it’s not just my emails, it’s whomever Gmail feels is a Promotion and not a human. Well, I am here to tell you that I am human. And if you would like to get my emails and other emails from other humans, here is the solution.
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the Gmail tab.
- Select “Configure Inbox.”
- Deselect the “Promotions” tab and click Save.
Rest assured this will not delete any emails or stop emails from coming through either. It’s simply a folder system that Gmail introduced and didn’t tell anyone about. It looks at incoming emails and decides where they should go. I personally like to decide where my emails go. If you do as well, 3 easy steps to a simple fix.
Thanks and hope you can get caught up on some reading because most people I tell this too wind up finding a lot of emails from their friends that they never even saw.
Until next time,

It’s finally out and what a cool episode. Very grateful to Tina Malave for choosing Odd Nights at The Autry as a featured “Summer To-Do.” 5th season and our favorite show we produce. Looking forward to July 19th’s Odd Night. If you want to catch the full episode head over to
Well, not exactly the first day of summer I was hoping for, especially after a few rough months of cold & rainy weather this season. But, here we are at yet another Odd Nights at The Autry. So, being that it’s been a misty morning and that may sound all wonderful, if we could lounge in bed and watch movies, it’s not wonderful when producing an outdoor event. Here are a few tips for tonight:
- Bring a beach chair.
- Use a tarp under your blanket.
- Bring a couple of pairs of extra socks.
- Of course, bring a light jacket or a hoodie.
Our Best in Show Competition starts tonight.
Over the years we have seen some pretty cool setups from our supporters. Tables sets, funky folding seats and beach chairs gone wild. So, why not a little friendly BEST IN SHOW competition?” – Here’s how it works. You come out to Odd Nights tonight and at all Odd Nights events this year showing off your inner exterior designer skillset and you could win a free dinner for 2 off any of the food trucks plus free admission for 2 for a future Odd Nights!
We highly recommend using your beach chairs tonight as it’s been a misty morning. Most will burn off by the afternoon but if you have them, bring them out. Or even a tarp and then throw the blanket down. And maybe just maybe by July, we will get back to SoCal weather. Hope to see you out tonight and we will be walking around looking for our first winner! Good Luck…
