New Look for Los Feliz Flea

New Look for Los Feliz Flea

In my last post I talked about how after months and months of back and forth with LAUSD, we were finally delivered a beautiful shiny new License Agreement which we have since laminated and framed above our mantel. Along with that shiny new Agreement we have revamped the Poster and feel it better depicts the spirit of what we are committed to creating at Marshall HS. Hope you all like it as much as we do.

Now accepting applications. The grand opening is Saturday, November 2. Visit losfelizflea.com for details.

YES! Los Feliz Flea is back on track!

YES! Los Feliz Flea is back on track!

Back in April, we were supposed to kick off the new Los Feliz Flea and as many of you know we were delayed month after month. Thanks to some new leadership at the district level of LAUSD and the continued support of Marshall HS itself, we are excited to announce we are opening on Saturday, November 2nd. This new flea will feature a curated selection of vintage and collectibles along with local artists. In true Odd Market fashion, we will have a great line up of live music and food trucks.

The Los Feliz Flea will kick off Saturday, November 2nd and will run every Saturday rain or shine from the hours of 11am – 4pm. Vendors are required to submit a separate application regardless of whether have were approved to do Odd Markets.

In 1991, I was the guy that started the Fairfax High Flea Market (currently the home of the Melrose Trading Post). Since then, I have always been on the lookout for the 2.0 East Side version of that market. For those of you New Yorkers, you may know the GreenFlea located on 77th and Columbus in NYC. Man, that was my weekend hang for many years. It’s the reason I loved the corner of Melrose and Fairfax. I thought it would be the West Coast version

The GreenFlea had a very unique setup. It has the parking lot and playground which is outdoors and then it has an attached indoors area with antique jewelry and collectibles. Guess what? So does Marshall HS. To start off we will just be using the outside areas but the plan is to do something similar. It’s a homage to my all-time favorite NY Flea that got me started almost 30 years ago.

We will be updating everyone as we get closer to the kick-off date. For details, check out losfelizflea.com

Until next time, thanks for the support.

Phillip

New Flea. New Look. New Day. Hooray.

New Flea. New Look. New Day. Hooray.

In making the transition from a Food Truck event on Tuesday’s to a Sunday event we had to change the look as well and here’s what we came up with thanks to my wife’s super style…

Now let the fun begin. Great time slot 4pm – 8pm during the Fall / Winter months and 4pm – 10pm in the Spring / Summer. We are starting off small with about 16 -20 vendors this week (Sunday Sept 15th) but with the help of the community, we hope to be at 50 within a month or so. Hope you can make it.

Food Truckin movin’ to Sundays Sept 8 Plus Flea Market

Food Truckin movin’ to Sundays Sept 8 Plus Flea Market

Now that school is in session, we decided to make a move to Sundays from 4 pm – 8 pm (Fall / Winter) and 4 pm – 10 pm (Spring / Summer).

PLUS… We are adding more vendors and billing it as Food Truckin’ & Flea Market Sundays. We’ll start off this coming Sunday, Sept. 8th and ramp it up as we grow.

We will have food trucks, music, seating, and the playground is open as well (supervised by parents please) plus vintage, collectibles and more.
